Stormy skies

I love a good thunderstorm with the cracking of thunder and the beautiful lightning streams across the sky. Friday night my son was in a soccer tournament and a storm had passed through before our game.  I had our camera with us to take pictures of Tim (who was goalie – not his normal position) however, with the threat of more rain it sat in the car.

Bummer – he played an awesome game! The skies started to darken and I kept reassuring the parents around me it was going to blow over. Well it did until the second half of the game. About 10 minutes into the second half the ref stopped the game due to lightning. The game was over tied 0-0 and we would return today for more games.

As we drove we saw more lightning streaming across the sky and the rain was steadily coming down ( just a note – I really dislike driving in the rain). As we watched the clouds moving and heard the thunder I was distracted and turned off the exit. We were going south instead of east now and no way to correct it anytime soon. We just watched the storm as we drove more into it. The sky was beautiful and one of my passengers decided to start clicking away with the camera. We did get home after doing a complete circle around the storm but look at the beautiful pictures we captured!
