homemade-cleaner In an effort to leave a smaller footprint behind, many people are switching to an all-natural lifestyle. Not only in their food and car choices, but also in how they treat and clean their homes. If you desire to change the footprint you leave behind, or at least to avoid harmful chemicals and save money, you can make your own simple and natural all purpose cleaner.

household-tasks-you-can-do-while-youre-on-the-phone Since most of us can barely squeeze time for the small household tasks, we often tackle them while doing something else. There are some jobs that are simply bound to be multi-tasked, like folding the laundry while on the phone. Actually, chatting with a friend or a family member can help you forget you’re doing tedious household chores.

how-to-work-out-as-you-clean Housework is already a demanding chore, which takes quite a lot of effort and is usually frowned upon. The truth is that for anyone in tune with an active lifestyle, house cleaning represents a wonderful opportunity for burning some extra calories.

Big day for shipping … I had so much fun today shipping animals for Supreme Gecko. We have to wait for temperatures to be ideal and today was the day to release shipments for all the animals we were holding. The process is pretty easy 1. Last night we marked all the containers in the facility 2. Put boxes together and stiro pieces inside 3. Catch and pack animals (this can be interesting sometimes - today was pretty simple) 4. Put in a heat pak and the animal container 5. Close up the box and label it for shipping 6. Go to post office late in the day and watch the panic look of the staff when you walk in with 8 b

Our Little Blessing… Welcome 2012! When I posted "mom thoughts" I told you we were awaiting the birth of our granddaughter. Well, she is here! Christal was born on Dec. 31st at 4:33 p.m. She is healthy and a very happy baby. I was given the privilege of being in the labor and delivery room through it all. While I sat and watched the expecting parents sleep for a few hours I thought about how far we had come as a family over the past few months. I also thought about how life was going to change for them and what a wonderful blessing this little girl would be, I thought about how I have become closer to our mom to be as w

Odd Socks? Why do I dislike sorting socks so much? Of any job as a housewife this has to be the WORST of all! Because I totally dislike it I tend to let them pile up instead of just sorting them. So today I decided that enough is enough time to get this job done! First pile to tackle.... Ok, I got very excited when I looked at this pile - I noticed after a bleach soak and wash several socks just weren't clean enough.  So in the garbage they go.  Less to sort. Then I noticed some of the pairs had holes - more for the garbage and less to sort.   I'm on a roll this isn't so bad after all. Pile # 2 -

As I sit sipping a Chai Tea and munching on a shortbread cookie in front of the fireplace I am thinking about the past year.  And it has been a year of challenge and growth for me in many ways.  I am remembering the good times, the frustrations, and the surprises that have entered my life.   I am also thanking God for the strength and wisdom he has given me as a mom. Over the year I went through the feelings of "the Lasts" as our youngest son graduated from High School.  For me it was a season of my life that ended and I really wasn't ready.  You see I have always been very active in my boys lives. I

What is your favorite cookie?   Annual Cookie Baking Day 2011!   This is one of my most treasured times with my sisters, cousin, and my mom.   This list is created at Thanksgiving, I do the shopping, and set up my kitchen.   I tuned my oven on at 6:30 a.m. and it was turned off around 5:00p.m. The supply table Jackie is the " Mix Master"  she can double a recipe and keeps the schedule going throughout the day Mom is the "Scooper"  and can scoop pretty quickly! Issy and Michelle are the decorators.   Issy likes to see color. Gus Gus is "The Inspector".  I can around the corner after putting

Big News in the Kern Family… 2011 We started our 2011 with an adorable little dog(my Christmas gift). He is a Corgi and his name is “Gus Gus”. He has been a great addition to our family and has a great “dog” sense of humor. The months went by quickly to Tim’s Graduation from H.S. Mom was not so excited as Tim is our youngest and it meant there were a lot of “lasts” for our family. Tim decided to go to WCTC for Graphic Design, however, the program was full so he is currently working on his Printing Diploma. This past week he received his letter of acceptance into the Graphic Design Program for fall of 2012. He is
